Romeos and Juliets Can Marry in Verona!

Juliet's Balcony

Italy is certainly gaining popularity as a wedding hot spot. From Maggie Gyllenhaal to Salma Hayek, celebrities are flocking to this historically beautiful and romantic country to enjoy the food, the wine, and the breathtaking sights. Taking a page from history, or from Shakespeare rather, the Italian city of Verona has now begun to offer up a romantic wedding plan that’s sure to delight many Romeos and Juliets.

According to Reuters, the 13th century mansion of the Cappello family – believed to be the Capulets of William Shakespeare’s tragic play “Romeo and Juliet” – has been opened up by the Verona town council as a venue for weddings. The Cappello mansion has been a romantic destination for many years, with lovers from around the world leaving behind messages of the heart on the building’s walls.
The first Romeo to take advantage of the offer was soccer player star Luca Ceccarelli, who plays for local team Verona.
“I feel very emotional. You know, marriage always gives strong emotions especially in a situation like this,” said a beaming Ceccarelli, before exchanging rings with his Juliet, Irene Lamforti. “We hope that this bring us a lot of luck.”
While this may seem like a dream come true that’s sure to become part of your wedding day, take note that getting married on that famous balcony can cost a pretty penny. A normal civil wedding license in Italy costs about 45 euros ($64): for non-European citizens the Verona license will cost nearly 900 euros, with EU non-Verona couples paying approximately 700 euros.

Either way, we’re excited that “star-crossed lovers” from around the world can see “what light from yonder window breaks” and live happily ever after, inspired by the love of Romeo and Juliet.

We Love Green, And Great Green Wedding!

As you’ve probably noticed from our past blog posts and posts on our Twitter at Twitter.com/PWPOnline, we love all things “green” and eco-friendly. While looking for green wedding tips, we came across Great Green Weddings, an eco-friendly wedding blog. The posts highlight creative ways to add some environmental friendliness into your wedding!

Weddings should be bright and sunny, and we love their post on “Summer Fruit Parchment Bowls”! Each of these delicious looking bowls is about $30 each and so worth it – they would make for the prettiest of table centerpieces.

Unique wedding bands are our thing here at PWP, too, so we’re all about the post “Ethical Metal Wedding Bands”! These wedding bands are quite different from the norm and are made by New Zealand artist Ashley Hilton. The organic designs are simple and so beautiful.
