It’s true – they took the plunge! According to reports from People magazine, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard finally got married on May 2 in a beautiful chapel in Brindisi, Italy. (By the way, Italy seems to be the newest wedding hot spot for the stars. Take for example Salma Hayek choosing to host her lavish celebration in Venice just a week or two prior.) With all of this jet setting by the stars, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more and more couples trekking to distant locations to exchange their vows.

While many people saw this coming for quite some time, as Maggie and Peter have been together for over seven years and have a two year old daughter, Ramona, we’re still delighted to finally get to celebrate the occasion. This small and intimate affair was shared with forty of the couple’s closest friends and family, including star couple Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, in a fairy-tale setting that is classic of Maggie’s style. Not to mention, the low profile affair was a refreshing departure from the opulent weddings that so many Hollywood couples choose. Now if only we could see the photos…

Married On MySpace is a new reality video series that will chronicle one couple’s journey to their wedding day, with MySpace members driving much of the decision-making in planning the event. From flowers to the gown, this couple is putting the decision making power in the hands of the public.

So how exactly does Married on MySpace work?

The process starts with couples submitting videos to MySpace and users voting on who should be featured. Once that has been determined, MySpace users vote on other aspects of the event, like selecting what the bride and groom wear, where they celebrate their bachelor and bachelorette parties, and the wedding location. But besides voting, there are plenty of other activities for MySpace users to enjoy on the site. Feel free to participate in forums, comment on the couples, and sign the guest book.

In all, there will be 13 web episodes of Married on MySpace, culminating in the selected couple’s wedding day. Right now, we’re down to three couples!
