We’re Swooning Over SwoonOverIt

Amanda B. Young, formerly known as the Blissful Bride, is quite the entertaining wedding blogger at and talented artist at, Modern Calligraphy Studio. Amanda’s posts highlight wedding topics that are crucial to wedding planning, such as the very relevant post, “Tip Tidbit: How Much Does It Hold?”, where Amanda outlines the seating capacity for wedding party vehicles. We love her attitude that even a school bus could be glammed up and have a great vintage feel for wedding transportation!

Over at, Amanda’s beautiful calligraphy speaks for itself in her Writing Samples section – they’re absolutely exquisite! As Amanda notes in her “About” page, “Let’s face it: The envelope is the very first piece of material most people will see when it comes to your wedding or other important event”. It’s so true – SwoonOverIt’s elegant calligraphy designs will have your guests saying “wow” from the moment the envelope arrives in their mailbox.

Be sure to check out and her blog, Here’s some photos of’s different calligraphy styles:

Dare to Be Different on Your Wedding Day

Weddings, though always beautiful, can seem a little bland for the adventurous bride. To keep your cravings for something different at bay, here are several great ideas on how to incorporate something unique as part of your wedding plans.

Socially Aware Receptions
Instead of focusing on just you and your hubby to be, look instead to do something good for the world. Allow for your guests to send donations to a good cause instead of giving a wedding gift or sending flowers.

Non-Traditional Bouquets
What do buttons, seashells, wood, cloth scraps, chains, crystals, metallic wires, feathers, and tissue paper have in common? All of these materials are becoming popular as accent elements in wedding bouquets. Whether you choose to construct your floral arrangements using just these elements or decide accenting your current arrangements with these innovative materials is a better bet, your bouquet is sure to be a hit.

Bridal Blogging
Techie girls can rejoice! Bridal blogging is growing in popularity, especially as more and more people turn to the net to get their nuptial planning inspiration. Share your experiences on an online blog to give your guests an even more intimate look at your special day or just to share some advice with fellow brides who may just be starting out with their plans. Don’t be afraid to ask questions of your readers, share photos and videos, or review your different vendors. Either way, it’s a fun an interesting element to add to your wedding (and a good way to share the juicy details on the dress, the flowers, and the favors!).

Winnie Ties the Knot!

Danica McKellar

Danica McKellar, the famed actress who played Winnie Cooper on the hit TV series “The Wonder Years,” has recently tied to knot to longtime beau Mike Verta, a composer. The two began dating in 2001 and became engaged last August in Chicago.

According to her rep, the two exchanged vows in front of 150 people at an ocean-side church at sunset in La Jolla, California. (This intimate ceremony sounds simply romantic!) She walked down the aisle to wedding music composed by Verta and performed by members of the San Diego Symphony.

“We wanted an intimate, formal event,” said McKellar, who wore a mermaid-style wedding gown and tiara by Renee Strauss. Following the wedding, the couple and their guests enjoyed a lovely dinner and danced to a 10-piece band during the reception at a private club. Even the first song was special, as it was composed by Verta and performed by McKellar’s uncle, Kim McKellar.

Besides being the beloved Winnie, McKellar is also an accomplished mathematician, graduating summa cum laude from UCLA and authoring two best sellers: Math Doesn’t Suck and Kiss My Math.

Congratulations to the lovely couple!

We’re Obsessed With ‘With This Ring, I Thee Obsess’!

There’s many wedding blogs out there, but there’s some that just grab our attention right from the headline. This happened to just occur for us with the wedding blog, “With This Ring, I Thee Obsess”. This fun wedding blog chronicles the excitement and stress of wedding planning, with a whimsical touch. We love the “Don’t Be a Fool!” disclaimer on the right-hand side of the blog, which asks readers to think before posting rude comments, and says, “So, don’t be a fool, please be cool.” How true :)

With This Ring, I Thee Obsess

The posts are always fun and true to real life – you’re going to get the real deal on wedding planning here, and oh how glad are we to see that! It’s great when a wedding blog tells it like it is. We have no doubt in our minds that you’re going to love this blog, and the photos and writing will have you absolutely coming back for more!

We admit: we’re obsessed with “With This Ring, I Thee Obsess”. Go see it, and tell them PWP said hello!
